What the numbers say
Three dealerships call Monroe home, and all three carry used travel trailers. Airstream Charlotte has the highest rating at 4.8 from 90 reviews. Direct Automotive has a 4.0 from 202 reviews, and Jayco Carolinas sits at 3.8 from 33 reviews. That average of 4.2 is honest, not stellar. If you want a new travel trailer, Jayco Carolinas is your only local choice. For motorhomes, you will need to look beyond Monroe. The nearby markets add 12 more dealers, so expand your search if you are set on a motorized unit or a specific floor plan.
Where to start your search
Airstream Charlotte earns its 4.8 rating with a focus on used travel trailers and delivery service. If you are leaning toward a used trailer and want a dealer that handles delivery, start there. Direct Automotive has a large review count, which suggests volume, and offers service and parts along with financing. Jayco Carolinas covers new and used trailers and also has service and parts. All three offer financing, but getting pre-approved with your own bank first gives you a baseline to compare dealer rates. That step alone can save you real money over the life of the loan.
Before you sign
A pre-purchase inspection is worth the cost on any used trailer. Walk the roof, check the tires for date codes, and test every appliance. At delivery, do a full walk-through and record it on your phone; you will forget half of it later. Ask about the service department's wait times, since three dealerships here offer service and parts. Off-season buying can mean more attention from the sales staff. And if a deal feels rushed, walk away. I have done it, and the next trailer was better.
