RV Dealers in Hammond, LA
Hammond sits just north of Lake Pontchartrain where I-55 meets I-12, which puts three RV lots within a short drive. Two sell used units and one focuses on new, so the mix favors shoppers who don't mind last year's model. I bought my second trailer in this stretch of the state and learned the drive is easy but the walk-through is where deals get made or lost.

What's on the lots
Three dealerships operate in Hammond, and their inventory splits clearly. Great American RV SuperStores - Hammond carries used, motorhome and travel-trailer units, with financing, service, parts and delivery on site. Kent Mitchell RV Sales LLC handles new RVs and offers service and parts. Happy campers and cars LLC sells used only. The average rating across all three is 4.1, but that number hides a wide spread: Great American sits at 4.7 from 3,778 reviews, Kent Mitchell at 4.3 from 124, and Happy campers at 3.4 from 17. Review volume matters as much as the score when you are weighing a long drive.
The short drive from New Orleans and Baton Rouge
Hammond is roughly an hour from New Orleans and about 45 minutes from Baton Rouge, so a Saturday trip to look at RVs is realistic from either city. Four more dealerships sit within reach of Hammond if the three local lots don't have the floorplan you want. I would call ahead and confirm the unit is still on the lot before making the drive. Inventory moves, and a rig that was online Thursday can be sold by Saturday. Ask for the stock number and a photo of the actual unit, not the brochure shot.
What to check before you sign
Only one of the three Hammond dealers lists financing, so get pre-approved by your own bank or credit union before you shop. That gives you a baseline rate and keeps the conversation on the RV rather than the payment. Ask each lot about its service department and whether they can handle warranty work on what they sell. On a used unit, pay for an independent pre-purchase inspection, especially on the roof, slide seals and tires. At delivery, do the walk-through with the water and power hooked up, and test every appliance and switch before you tow it home.
