Where the lots are
Most of Yuma's motorhome dealers sit along the main east-west corridors, so you can hit several in one trip. RV World Recreation Vehicle Center is the biggest by far, with 385 reviews and a 4.3 rating, and it carries new and used motorhomes plus travel trailers. Bobby Combs RV Centers has a 4.2 rating and a smaller lot. Yuma Park Model Sales and Desert Toy Box are worth a look if you want used units and service under one roof. None of these are mega-dealers, so call ahead if you want a specific floor plan ready for a test drive.
What to check before you buy
With six of seven dealers selling used motorhomes, condition matters more than the badge on the front. Ask for maintenance records and a pre-purchase inspection from an independent shop, even if the dealer has its own service bay. On the walk-through, test every appliance, slide, and leveling jack, and check tire date codes. Financing is offered at only two of the seven lots, so a pre-approval from your own bank gives you a backup and a negotiating number. Off-season shopping here means summer, when snowbird traffic drops and sales staff have more time.
Service and parts
RV World, Bobby Combs, Yuma Park Model Sales, Yuma Auto & RV Center, and Desert Toy Box all list service, and three of those also have parts. That matters if you plan to stay in the area, since getting chassis work or a roof repair done without a long wait is easier when the dealer you bought from has a bay. Consignment is available at RV World, Yuma Auto & RV Center, and Blue Diamond Home & RV if you are trading up or downsizing. Blue Diamond also offers delivery, which saves you a trip if you buy from out of town.
