What the three local lots offer
Showalter RV is the clear anchor on the local scene, with a 4.9 rating from 223 reviews and new travel trailers on the lot. They also handle financing, service, and parts, which matters if you want one place to handle the whole purchase. Park Models Direct has a 4.3 rating from a small handful of reviews and offers delivery. Franklin Coach Co shows no rating or reviews yet, so it is worth a call before you make the drive. One local dealer lists travel trailers, so be ready to branch out for other types. My advice: get pre-approved by your own bank before you talk numbers, and ask about the service department wait times. That tells you more about a lot than the showroom does.
Worth the drive nearby
With twelve more dealers in the surrounding area, Nappanee works well as a base for a day of lot-hopping. The town sits in northern Indiana near the Michigan line, so you can plan a loop that covers several stops without doubling back. Call ahead to confirm hours and inventory, because small lots change stock often. I bought my second RV after walking away from one deal that looked good until I saw the tires and roof. A pre-purchase inspection by an independent tech is worth the cost, even on a new unit. If you can shop in the off-season, you will have more attention from sales staff and more room to negotiate.
Used versus new around here
The local listings show no used inventory and no motorhomes, just one travel-trailer dealer. That does not mean used units are absent from every lot, but you should set expectations before you go. If you want a motorhome or a used fifth wheel, widen your search to the nearby dealers and ask specifically what they have on consignment. When you find a used unit, check the date codes on the tires and look for soft spots in the floor. At delivery, do the walk-through with the service tech, not just the salesperson, and record it on your phone. I did that on my first purchase and caught a water heater bypass I would have missed.
