What you'll find on the lots
Three of the five Hickory dealers list used units, and the same three handle motorhomes and travel trailers. Only Sunrise Camping Center advertises new inventory alongside used. That means your new-RV search starts there, but your used search has more stops. Financing is offered at just one dealer, Blue Ridge Adventure RV, which also takes consignments. If you need a loan through the lot, call ahead to confirm terms before making the drive. Otherwise, get pre-approved at your own bank or credit union first. It keeps the negotiation focused on the unit, not the monthly payment.
Where to start your visit
Sunrise Camping Center has 289 reviews and a 4.2 rating, so it's the volume leader and likely has the widest selection. Odyssey Custom Vans holds a 5.0 from five reviews and lists service, which matters if you want one shop for buying and upkeep. Brown Steve LLC sits at 4.6 from nine reviews. HickoryRV.Com LLC and Blue Ridge Adventure RV both carry used motorhomes and travel trailers, and both offer delivery. With only five dealers in town, you can reasonably visit all of them in a day. Call first to confirm the specific unit you saw online is still on the lot.
Buying advice for this market
A used-heavy market rewards patience. Ask for service records, then hire an independent inspector before you sign. Walk the roof and check for soft spots in the floor, especially around slides and bathrooms. At delivery, do the walk-through with the water and power hooked up, and test every appliance yourself. Off-season shopping often brings more attention from sales staff and more room to negotiate. If you plan to finance through Blue Ridge Adventure RV, get the out-the-door number in writing before you discuss monthly payments. The same rule applies at any lot: separate the price of the RV from the price of the loan.
